Power outage during sleep forces PMU reset - bad?

I can't remember this happening with 10.3.3 but with 10.3.4 on PMG4, machine will not start up and needs to have the PMU button reset to start up if the power is interrupted during sleep. Besides being a PIB is this harmful? PRAM battery is 2 years old and tested voltage is 3.2. Suggestions??
