Does anyone know of a good product "usb or firewire" that allows you to play fm radio stations on your mac. I looked into the Yamaha U-200 but it's almost imposible to get. Also the formac tv/dv. Pretty expensive for an FM radio though!!! Any sugestions would be GREAT.

Ah, I remember the heady days of the Power Mac 5x00, and the option for a TV or FM tuner card to be installed. Good times. I wonder if those were PCI slots they went in... if they were, then you could probably get the "Apple FM Tuner" program to work in Classic... just a possibility, assuming you find one in a dumpster/eBay.

I can't help you with your search. Sorry.

But could you fill me in on what would be the benifit of such a device? I mean walkmen are totally cheap. expecially just the am/fm radio type ($10 CDN). and Powerbook speakers suck for music, and if you are using a desktop machine I would assume that you are going to be using external speakers anyway. Why not just plug in a walkman into those speakers instead of the Mac?

Are there any audio capturing programs that work with these USB/Firewire radio devices? That would be cool I guess.

If it doesn't have to be usb or firewire, you can get this and you get the video capture to boot for under a hudred bucks

For a cheap solution you can try the D-Link DSB-R100. D-Link doesn't support the Mac, but PTH Consulting writes free Mac software to drive it. <a href="http://www.pth.com/DSBRTuner/"; target="_blank">DSBR Tuner.

I just bought one. The included antenna doesn't work for my needs, so I'm using a wire one. You might want to read the VersionTracker reviews for the software to find out more about the hardware.

I guess i'm still in the "good times" . I have a Performa and two PowerMacs with TV Tuner cards. No, they are not PCI and I don't think the TV/FM programs will even open on newer computers. I did see a USB TV tuner a few days ago, but I don't think it had FM.

Thanks Everyone for the input. I think I might try that D-link with the software. Looks good, might sound good with soundsticks or something. Thanks Again
