What Did I Miss In Milwaukee?

I just went to Milwaukee last weekend for a conference and got to hang out in town a couple of days. I saw all of two square blocks down around Water Street and Kilbourn. Nice riverwalk, I liked the brews at the Water Street Brewery. I liked the cute girls tending bar at the BBQ bar/restaurant across the street even more. Mo's Irish Pub was fun and I had a sandwich at Potbellies.

We didn't have a car so I missed the Italian Festival.

So what else did I miss?

the mexican food in the third ward. conejito's is great.

kopps (oh man) you can hear your arteries harden while you eat.

    sanford's restaurant

the only thing i didn't like about milwaukee during my five years their was the lack of decent italian food, however every milwaukeean will tell you a great place, you go, and it's hopelessly mediocre.

i've always joked the milwaukee is blackhawk for shitty italian food.

my old funky used record store (mainstream music) at the corner of farwell and brady has alas, been pushed out by a starbucks. but there is a great record store a couple of doors down called the exclusive company.

the east side in general, a couple of great art movie places, many good restaurants, beans and barley is a great vegetarian place.

i gained a ton of weight in milwaukee.
