I was going to figure out the number of songs these cards will hold, but was just to lazy to count out all the zeros:

Isn't 2 terabytes way beyond any shipping hard drives capacity? Hard to believe they are going to get that much in a tiny sold state memory card by the beginning of next year.

    Yowch! If that's for real, it's pretty amazing. I mean, to get into that range or storage capacity, companies like LaCie are tying two HDs together and faking it. And these guys are claiming to get 2 TB into s card? And a small one at that!



    If the price isn't totally over the top, and if the media is fairly stable (i.e. it won't easily lose or corrupt data like floppies or Jaz disks), this could really shake things up.

    It says that 2 TB is the max, same with some other cards, but no one says that they will have a 2 TB card now. This is not a question of massive storage as much as this format/standards capabilities in the future. I think to get 2 TB onto a small memory card will require something greater than a tiny hard drive, Flash->Microdrive->?. I personally think the future of storage will be crystal structure. 0 is an empty spot, 1 is a spot with an molecule. The tech to support this is still WAY WAY off.

    The chart on that link shows Memory stick Pro and Duo also going as high as 2TB so the tech is still a ways off indeed.



    Still though, that's a hella big buncha songs

    True, although did you notice the bandwidth? More than double the speed of the next fastest card, 6 times faster than MemoryStick, around 7 times faster than CompactFlash.

    Yeah, but who wants to spend hours transferring 2 TB of porn from one device to an other, when you can now do it in seconds? Porn-on-the-go has never been so convenient!
