Video Quality on Nvidia and ATI cards...

I wanted to know if ATI cards are better at playing DVDs and other video playback. For example, I was watching a DVD on my 933 G4 with GeForce 4 MX and noticed a lot of aliasing and a bit of skipping. I also downloaded the iMac video off of apple.com/imac and watched it in full screen with Quicktime 6 Pro. The quality was OK at best. It was a bit blurry and again aliased. I'm thinking about buying the ATI Radeon 9700 when it comes out and wanted to know if it was better at playing full screen movies (DVD or otherwise).

For those of us who are waiting for the dual 1.25 GHz MDD, I suspect that ATI will be supplying Apple the 9700 by the time it ships as a BTO option. Or soon afterwards by November at the latest.

I doubt it. But for my sake as well, let's hope the Radeon 9700 is out in the next month or so for Mac (or at least some leaked drivers so I can flash a PC one).

nvidia sux... that skipping is annoying, and it happens every 10 min. if i had known that before, i would have gotten a tibook instead of the new imac. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />
