Puter locking up at begining of burn process...

Ok this is strange. I put in a blank cd it asks to be named and what format np, when I open it up drop files on it np still but the only way I can get the burn dialog is to hit "eject" and it asks me if I want to burn or not. I can't figure out any other way to get the dialog and what it says in help don't work. And the biggest problem is when I say "ok" to burn the whole puter locks up and I have to restart.
