Hurricane Charley death toll
I was driving through north Florida on my way up the east coast last saturday morning listening to the radio reports re. Hurricane Charley. There were reports from the damage zone including several horrific ones describing "many dozens of bodies" at flattened mobile home parks, "stacks of bodies", and reports describing 150 DOAs at one hospital alone. I recall one of these interviews was from a hospital official in Punta Gorda. Turning on the TV after getting to a hotel in Raleigh NC that evening, I was relieved, (but a little mystified) to hear that the death toll was far far less than what I had heard earlier.
I googled and found these:

Is there anyone from west FLA here who can clear this up?

Why do you remain incapable of a sensible answer? Or is that asking far too much?
Hurricanes happen. People can die if they're not ready for it. It's a shame, but it's life.
In other news, I ran out of Stoli.
