Thinking about making the jump myself. I'm limping along on a7300/200. Gets excrutiating sometimes. Think I'm going to wait a little longer though until the dual 1.25's are out. Going to get a 22in Cinema display at the same too I think.

    Congrats!!

Of course, should you have any troubles with the new system or in getting used to Mac OS X, feel free to post about it.

Oh! And pictures! Be sure to take some photos of everything as you're setting it up. We need more members to post in the <a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=10&t=000803"; target="_blank">Pictures of your computer setups for 2002 thread.

Pictures? I don't have any digital camera. Sorry.

I wont be able to sleep tonight !

How about a still camera? I'm sure one of our other Canadian members could scan some snapshots if you snail-mailed them.

I suppose that could be a bit of trouble, though.

Ok, you gave me an idea.

I have an unfinished film in my camera and I don't know what to do with it. It's only 100 ASA, so it will probably be not sensitive anough to capture my interior setup, but I'll give it a try.

I have a scanner at work, so I'll try all these when I receive my new baby in two weeks.

I can't believe I buyed it yet ! I waited since a whole year. Last winter, I saw and tried the 933 MHz, and I said to myself "Well, maybe that's the one". After reading the posts on the net (here and elsewhere), and playing with the 933 again, I said to myself "Nope ! That's not enough for me !". So I waited again and now I can't wait anymore. I buyed the dual 867 today.

My old Mac IIci will be jealous. I'm sure he will stop working tonight.

Wow, that's quite the jump! I went from a IIci to an 8500 to a new dual 1 GHz DDR... each jump felt huge, so for you it should be amazing.

OS X will be quite a change as well.

Also, remember you can take your traditional camera to get it developed, and when you do you can order a Kodak CD as well, with the pics on there.

In about 5 different resolutions, I think.

    Something to keep in mind.

Those prices are rather good for the Display and the tower. Where did you buy?

    To Matsu :

I buyed at an university shop, in Montreal. The prices are educationnal.

Stupid question : Is there any hardware difference between the machines buyed at normal price and the ones buyed at educationnal price ? I mean, any difference in the machines themselves ? I don't think so, but just in case ... I'm a bit paranoid.

No difference, except the educational versions more closely approximate a realistic price. I'm surprised that there's that much discount on the 17.

    Education discount?

Screw that. I can get machines at the price that's even lower than education price

    Possibilities
    • Leonis works for Apple and gets staff discounts

    • Bulk discounts by purchasing through a large organisation

    • Leonis is a crim', and gets "five finger discount" on Macs (just kidding!).

Let's hope it's the third option.
