iChat AV hangs on accepting audio and video chats

iChat AV hangs on accepting audio and video chats-- with my brother (who is away at college). Each of us turned off our firewalls-- but I suspect the firewall at his college is messing things up. I *know* audio and video conferences have worked for me before. What's the problem?
