USB ports not working on iBook

Ok, my wife has sent her iBook (dual usb G3 900MHz) in for logic board replacement. Now her usb ports seem to work randomly. She is using 10.3.5 and the machine also tends to go to sleep without warning. I am at a loss at this point I used CCC and she is now using a old PB we have. Not sure which model. (G3 400MHz airport, dual firewire and usb, and amber keyboard?) It seems to work fine. I guess I need to send the iBook back in. Does anyone else have similar issues? There seem to be a few on the Apple discussions.
