Telling difference 5V DIMMS vs PC100

At work several old PCs have been scrapped. I have salvaged some HDs and many memory modules. The Pcs were of a defunct local brand using Cyrix and AMD CPUs in the 233-300 Mhz range.

Most modules were 72 pin but at least one was clearly labeled "PC100 SD128M CL3" However others have no labels that I could understand. I noticed that the slot connector on PC 100 DIMMs and those DIMMs found in 7500 powermacs, all look the same.

Can I fry a computer or a memory card if I try it in the worng kind of computer?

Is there any way of finding out what is what? ( PC100 vs the 5volt DIMMS)

We had the same problem. We just tried them in the machines. It did not do any damage and then we could also label most of them IF it showed up in the system profiler. We first tried to google them but that almost always failed. For the amount of time it took, I did not think it was worth the effort.
