4G iPod crashed. Help? :(

I tried to turn my 4G on this morning and right after the Apple logo it sort of makes a "click" noise and then a black line shows on the screen and slowly fades away, and turns the iPod back off. So I tried it again and it did the same thing, but the black line was thicker. It's sort of looks the same way as when a TV turns off. Anyway, resetting it didn't help because right after the Apple logo, bam!, black line.

So yeah, what the hell happened?

I jad exactly the same problem with mine. Charging the battery makes it work again but only for a while.

The little thing was sucking it's battery drop even when idle, sucking it to within an inch of it's life. It's back with Apple now... 1 week so far and no replacement.

As I understand it that's a problem they had very early on so I expect they know it pretty well. Whenever you have a iPod problem that isn't solved by resetting connecting it to the comp is always a good next step. If it won't respond then it's time to go see Apple.
