I don't see what's excellent with sub-par performance.
I don't know how valid those benchmarks are, but I don't see any sub-par performance on them. On one test the G5 is effectively tied with the dual 3 Ghz Xeon, and all the others the G5 crushes the Xeon.
Okay, so the G5 wins handily in the Bryce benchmarks, but utterly fails to impress in the other. You guys are realizing that the hardware the dual 2.5 barely beats is at least a year old, and that there are faster alternatives available?
Edit: I also noticed that the G5 beats everything in the AE benchmark ... which is inconsistent with other data I have seen on the benchmark.

We really just have to wait for the Xeon 3.06 dual tests before we conclude. Right now it's safe to say the Dual 2.5Ghz G5 is the fastest thing around. Hopefully that won't change!
On paper maybe yesterday, but today AMD announced they were holding at 2.2 due to heat vs performance issues.
That is a lie. AMD has 2.4 GHZ Opteron 250s and will launch a 2.5GHz chip within one month. At most benchmarks, the 2.4GHz Opterons outperform the 2.5GHz G5.
What they announced is that their 90nm process is having trouble and is stuck at 2.2GHz.
Barefeats should also test the newer 3.6GHz Xeons. A 3.06GHz Xeon on the old 533MHz shared bus is almost 18 months old architecture.

It's yourself. If a machine runs your code faster than others, then this is the most appropriate for your needs.
The thing is, most people don't want to buy two computers to test them only to be stuck with both when they only need one computer. That's why some nice people write reviews and test products: so we all don't have to waste our time and money every time we want to make a purchase.

Whining that that that is too hard just shows it is more important to whine than actually show some personal responsibility and get off your ass to do the fiduciary due diligence.
And why wouldn't a review of a product be included in that due diligence?
Intel XEONS are at 3.6 ghz with 1mb L3 cache. I would like to see the G5 go up against one of those. Barefeats using a 2.4 ghz is kind of lame if you ask me. Apple sayed their the fastest so there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

The only thing they usually do well is beat other sites with posting benchmarks. You just can't really believe the results.
