Firewire boot drive - can i have a 2nd partition as FAT or NTFS?

Hi, i've installed Panther on an external firewire drive which has 2 partitions (both Mac OS extended). Panther is on the 1st partition. Is there a way of converting the 2nd partition to FAT or NTFS so i can use the drive (the 2nd partition) on a windows XP machine?
