General printing question/issue

I am wondering if anyone knows how to print documents a certain way. When I used to use my iMac under system 8 I could click on print preview, or it might have been under page setup, and click a box so that headers and/or footers would not be printed, and also extra images(such as a page banner accross the top of a web page) could also be omitted from being printed. I would like to be able to do this under OS X, but can't seem to find where to select it if possible. Anyone know if it is possibe (it saves paper by printing on fewer pages) to still use this feature and I just can't find it? Thanks.

The only place I have seen this feature is in Internet Explorer. It is still there in the OS X version of IE. It is the one thing I like about IE actually. I believe Office 2004 is also supposed to do this but I haven't ever used it. I don't think this was ever built into the operating system.
