Pioneer A05/105 in a QPS 241040 f/w case?
Hi,
I have an external firewire 'QPS Fire!' 24x10x40 CDRW drive connected to my mac. It's pretty easy to see that inside the case, it's basically a firewire->IDE bridge and a fairly standard looking IDE CDRW drive. It's also pretty easy to take the case apart...
I was wondering if I could do that, and replace the IDE CDRW with the Pioneer A05/105?
I would think yes for sure, except that I don't know if the ide bridge in the unit will cope with the pioneer drives, or if the bridge firmware is hacked in some way to only cope with stuff that QPS releases, etc etc...
From looking around on the net, it appears that the bridge is likely to be one by Initio.
Any comments/suggestions?
