My brother wrote me he was interested in a new burner, and I told him to look into the faster Firewire DVD burners-until I tried to find one. Do they exist? Not on Apple's site ,at least. Are they one the way? Thanks.
There's no point in an FW800 DVD burner - even at 8x write speed, the drive is much slower than FW400.
technically true, but even the better FW400-IDE bridges might have trouble with 16x burners. I have an older ADS Pyro enclosure and it can't feed a Pioneer DVR-108 burner enough data to burn at 16x.
