Photo Editing Software

I'm in need of some photo editing software to carry out what I consider to be some fairly basic changes to my images. By this I mean, cropping; manipulation of colour, shadow/highlights, contrast etc...

I have used Photoshop in the past and think that it is an increadibly powerful tool but is very expensive, and since I wasnt using the half of it, so my question is, what are the alternatives, Photoshop Elements? Any others? All suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Photoshop Elements is excellent. Every Mac user should be required to download GraphicConverter, shareware fee paid or not. Even iPhoto can do simple photo edits. In this category, Mac users suffer an embarassment of riches.

I suggest you have a look at Photoretouch. I use the Pro version for colour correction and batch processing. Much better than even Photoshop! I think the PhotoRetouch DigiCam Version is the most interesting option for you!

I 2nd the above reply. PhotoRetouch is very nice and simple to use, and not very expensive. Another good Image app is PixelNhance by the now defunct company CaffeineSoftware, nice software for what it is.
