Dumb Question: Where does Mail keep its mail?

i've used microsoft e-mail clients for my mail purposes since the days of outlook express, so i have been pretty used to all of my mail being in a database squirreled away in my documents folder.

well, the latest entourage databse corruption finally pushed me over the brink, and i'm giving mac os x's mail a try, and importing all of my old mail. but i want to make a backup copy of this mail, once its all in one place. but what file (or series of files/directories) do i grab to make a copy?

thanks.

For backup I think you need to copy two things. As noted by Mr. Kickaha you should copy the Mail folder in your library folder. However, you should also copy over the preference file called

    com.apple.mail.plist

    which is located in ~/Library/Preferences/

Before copying these you should quit Mail.
