RAM compatability

A friend of mine recently purchased an ibook and got a 512K RAM chip with the deal. He uprgraded to a 1GB chip and is offering me the 512K chip. Problem is, I use a 600mhz G3 12.1 ibook. Is the chip that was intended for the user's slot on the 1.2 G4 12 inch ibook compatable with my older model G3 ibook? Thanks for any help.

    If I am correct, did you mean 512MB memory?



    I don't think so, I think the iBook G3 uses SDR, and the G4 1.2 uses DDR, totally different standard and different voltage as well

    A good source for memory is OtherWorld Computing - to answer you specifically, no. The iBook G4 uses PC2700 333MHz memory, whereas the iBook G3 uses PC133.
