Hooking mac and platstation both to projector

My current home theater setup is as follows

playstation -> audio system

-> quadscan line quadrupler (via component)

-> CRT projector (via VGA)

I want to change the system so that I can

use either both the mac mini (for World of Warcraft)

and the playstation (for Soul Calibur II).

Here are the alternatives, as I see them

1. Hook the mac to the VGA passthrough on the

quadscan.

I havn't had much luck with this in the past.

For some reason when you hook different VGA

sources to my projector, the convergence is

different. Since it takes 30 minutes to converge

my projector - this is sub-optimal.

I am trying to figure out if you can save different

geometry and convergence settings for different

sources on my projector, which is the only thing

that would make this option palatable.

2. Hook the mac and playstation to a new line

quadrupler that has DVI input

I looked at the iScan HD+, and I was worried that

if the mac does not produce one of the expected

(780p, 1080p) input resolutions, it will go

into passthrough mode and not show up on the

VGA output. If I do this one, I want to make

sure I buy it with a good return policy...

3. Component video input to the mac, hook the playstation

to the mac and the mac directly to the projector.

Anyone tried any of these? Other ideas?

I'd need to know what ports you have on your projector. What Make/Model do you have? And the same for your Mac.

Right now, my best suggestion is to plug your playstation into the VGA port and get a DVI cable to hook up your mac to the projector. That way you can use the projector to switch between the two sources.

The projector is an Electrohome Marquee 8500

8" CRT projector. It has 5 BNC inputs for RGBHV -

and I have a VGA to BNC converter cable to hook

it to the quadrupler (or a computer).

No DVI input on the projector - it is too old for that.

Ok. That is not what I was thinking of when I heard "Projector".

Since it has 5 inputs, how about about one of these. Then you can hook both of them up.

EDIT: Um, did you mean 5 different BNC inputs or a 5-connection BNC input?

Sorry - I meant a single input, that uses

5 BNC connectors (one for red, one for blue, etc).

I have a breakout cable that has VGA on one end

and 5 BNCs on the other.

When I get home I'll look to see if the playstation

has a firewire output - maybe I can hook it to

the mac like it was a video recorder...

I think I straightened out this bag of snakes.

If it had S-Video or anything else this would be simple.

    Brainstorming:

    1) Get a VGA switch to choose between your inputs. (Can have a noticeable effect on the video signal.)

    2) One of these should work.
