Best DigiCam for Mac?

what do you guys think would be the best camera to pair with a g5 imac to make amatuer-ish movies. i plan on becoming a film maker when i am older and want to get my feet wet with both a macintosh computer and a camera, which camera would be the best for my situation. i dont need anything fancy, just something that is durable, and has a good picture, and perferably works seamlessly with ilife 05. my price range is about (max) $750-$850.
