Hey, does anyone out there have any facts or figures (benchmark test etc) on the speed difference - if any - between the 1.25GHz and 1.42GHz CPU's?
It seems a small speed upgrade by todays standards and I wonder if it will make all that much difference.
Thanks

Of course, what if they come out with a 1.5 or 1.67 G4 Mac Mini in the future? The 1.42 would keep you a little less behind, when updates arrive. However, you probably shouldn't use that as a decision maker.
The 1.25 will work very nicely indeed. However, there is another question to be asked. Would the 80 gig hard drive that is included with the 1.42 machine be of value to you? If so, the 1.42 model might be your best choice. Otherwise, the 1.25 might be right for you. Personally, I think the Mac Mini is the greatest value at the basic system. $500 is a good buy. Yes, I would still add memory, but other things add up, and then the entire value and idea of the mini seems to be depleted.
I wouldn't bother with the SuperDrive, I'd rather add a "LaCie d2 16x DVD±RW Double Layer FireWire/USB2.0 with Toast 6 Lite" for AU$289 (see Streetwise deal if you're interested and you live in Oz), instead of paying AU$155 for a single layer drive.
I'm optimistic that I could get a RAM upgrade thrown into the deal if I were to go to some of the Apple dealers around town- some are offering free 512Mb upgrades with eMacs & G5 iMacs, I hope they'll play the same game with the mini. I might even try for a free airport card to really sweeten the deal
Incidentally, Streetwise have the 1.42 mini for AU$919.00 ($30 saving)... but I'm sure the Americans are laughing themselves silly at the ludicrous markup Apple have put on us poor Aussies At the current exchange rate US$0.77 buys AU$1 so we should be able to buy the 1.42 mini @ AU$777 (US$599). What happened to the free-trade agreement our PM Howard signed with his bosom buddy George W Bush? )
