Airport Extreme card compatible with Airport Base?

Title says it all. I've got an airport extreme card in my laptop and wondered if I need to buy an airport extreme base station from Apple or if I can get away with the much cheaper and older airport base station off of Ebay. I recognize the speed differences and that's not important since I only intend to surf and do email with the wireless computer.

    Yes, it will work, it will just only run at 11mb and use 802.11 b.

    I already had a Snow Base Station when I handed my iBook to my parents and bought a 12" G4 w/ Airport Extreme. It works flawlessly, just not at Extreme speeds. I think sometime soon, I'll pick up an Airport Express and hand over the Snow to them too.
