Recombine partitioned drive?

My main (internal) drive is partitioned...a legacy of the way I used to work before having an additional drive.

Can I recombine the drive - lose the partitions without formatting it and starting again?

No. You need to reformat to combine the drive partitions.

Veritas volume manager (and others) allows you to dynamically increase decrease volume size without destroying data and that can have a UFS on it so I'm sure apple will eventually have something like this. Probably with Mac OS XI.
