Is the optical output port on the iMac compatible with Z-680 speakers? If not, then what digital speakers do work with the iMac? If anyone has these speakers hooked up to their mac, I'd like to know what your experience with them has been.

If it is a optical digital audio output then it should work on the Z-680s. I just got a set of the new Z-5500's, they're unbelievable. My 12" powerbook doenst have the optical digital audio output so I have to use a normal headphone jack cord.

The thing is that the Powermac g5 and the iMac g5 have different kinds of optical audio outputs, so I'm not sure if the 5500 will connect to one or both of those outputs.

You'll probably need a cable adapter to use the 3.5mm toslink output on the imac.
