Funny place for a SGI thread but I was wondering if anyone new of some free or inexpensive video editing software for a SGI O2 machine. The local university here is going through a computer lab reconstruction so I picked up a SGI O2 R12K 2048MB, 2X 15,000rpm 36GB for 1,230.82 USD. Not bad but I don't have any software except Maya on it. I would love to try some video editing on it as it has the SGI video kit installed. By the way I forgot just how archaic Irix 6.5 feels, man SGI wake up and modernize already. The computer is fast though it putt?s my Powermac to shame when running Maya.

Try teh forums at www.nekochan.net - those guys will be able to help. One poster (Diego) is writing some from scratch, and frankly he's godlike - it might be released by now.

3D graphics aren't great on O2's, but it should be fantastic for video editing (since they're more or less designed for that, and you have 15krpm disks).

    Have fun!
