The weird thing was that I called my local apple store to see if they would

match the price & the guy said that legally Amazon shouldn't be running that

promotion. What gives?

I went to the Apple Store to try again with the store manager but no dice.

My powerbook is supposed to get to me around March 7 from Amazon with free shipping.

My 7100/66 is on it's last legs but I'm still amazed that I've been using it for

    10 years!

I was checking online for a 1gig ram sim & the best deal I found was $236

at Memory to Go. They're listed above Macsurfer's website. Has anyone

had any problems with this company? The memory comes with a lifetime

warranty. I also found the same ram sim for $259 at TransIntl, $399 at Ramjet,

    & $479.90 at Crucial.

Also, does anyone have more specific release dates for the Epson R1800

Photo Printer & the Canon Eos Digital Rebel Xt? All I heard was March.

    I cannot friggin' wait!!!

If amazon can deliver just as quickly, why not cancel your current order since the Apple Store refuses to match the price? And how can it be "illegal" to offer a rebate?? I thought that was what the free market was all about!

I did end up ordering from Amazon. Another sweet thing that I realized

afterwards was that I don't have to pay sales tax as well. With that & the

rebate, this powerbook is costing me $2361!

IT CAME IN!!! I was expecting it between march 7-9 & it ended up coming

on Friday Feb. 25th. Damn I love this notebook!

Quick question though. I was going through the manual & it says that when

you hook up a phone cable to get dial-up, do not hook it up to a digital

phone line. There's a chance of frying the modem. Is there a little portable

device that I could buy to check the line before hooking up the laptop?

A digital phone line would be like office lines and maybe VOIP lines / Comcast Digital Phone. If your phone service is provided by a Baby Bell and the phone only receives calls for a single number then you can be pretty sure it's an analog phone.
