What's the REAL maximum RAM for a G3 iBook?
Thanks to all of you who gave me feedback on the replacement of my logic board. Now, I have another question:
1. The max RAM for my Tangerine iBook is 288... supposedly.
2. I've heard you can max out the RAM to 544 because, supposedly, Apple notoriously underestimates the RAM capability of its laptops. However, I read on Low End Mac that there was a OS 9 firmware update that crippled RAM beyond Apple's suggested limits. Since I plan on loading OSX onto my iBook, will the Classic OS contain that firmware update by default?
I want the maximum RAM possible to run Panther, but I don't want to spend money on RAM I won't or can't use.
Any help you can give would be most appreciated.
