Finding my PowerBooks "model" number

I am looking to buy a 1GB memory chip for my 15" 1.25GHz PowerBook G4, but I am unable to find the machines model number. I can find the serial number on a sticker under the battery, which starts with V73466, and the number A1046 printed on the back of the unit.

I have found corsair memory for a powerbook with model number M8981LL/A, but I cannot find this number, or any number like it, on my machine. I know this number used to be located in the battery-bay at the bottom.

I'm looking at this memory module:

I have the 1.5, get the PC3200 (DDR400) from them it works fine (thats what I run in my top slot).. the DDR400 ram *may* be a little more future proof i.e. a G5 pbook may use DDR400 (like the iMac G5 does)...

p.s. take out the space from between the w's up there, pasting the link doesnt work rite...

Apple Menu > About This Mac > click "More Info..." > select "Memory"

That should tell you exactly what type of RAM your machine takes.

That page lists that:"Does not fit Apples, Dells, or laptops that use PC100 / PC133 SDRAM memory", so I'm not sure I'll take the change of getting that one...

Reading that one again, my PB has a 167MHz bus, and uses DDR 333 if I remember correctly. It is weird that a DDR400 chip is cheaper than a DDR333 chip...

I ordered the CMSS1GB-333SOD as it was the one listed as "compatible" on Corsairs website. I received it today, but I have some trouble with it, and I am thinking it might be faulty.

I added a topic for it here:

Have you had any such issues ?
