Dead iMac Rev A HD rescue

My Brothers's iMac (Rev A 233 MHz PowerPC 750 G3) died a few months ago. I have taken out the hard disk and want to get the files of it so he can transfer them to his new Windows PC. (Note: My brother regrets buying a PC now and is looking forward to getting a mac mini)
I have access to several Macs and wondered if I can put it in as a secondary drive - We have Power Mac G4/400 and a Quicksilver G4 733Mhz both with a spare hard drive bays - can I just plug it in the spare bay?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
