Keys Out Of Order.... ?

After installing Mac OS 10.4.1 on my fathers iMac G5 1.8 20" 1 GB Memory it fails to boot and the Apple on startup is scratched out and then when starting up from the Mac OS 10.4.0 DVD and running Disk Utility it says Keys Out Of Order and that it cannot be repaired. Anyone know what this means?

    not specifically. If it's a disk problem, try diskwarrior or some other disk utility, DW has always worked for me in the past. good luck though.

    He has reverted back to 10.4.0 three times and tried to install 10.4.1 twice and only happens when he installs 10.4.1.
