My mom bought an iMac G4 a year or two ago.

From the start it had iffy Bluetooth functionality.

It appears in the menu, the OS sees it. But, my phone doesnt see it, nor my powerbook. If you add an external bluetooth adapter (USB) it works fine. Nonetheless, I DO remember that it worked once or twice in the past...

Lately, when she connects her iPod, I hear the "click of death", but slightly softer. When I try and transfer files to it, its incredibly slow. Burst a few MB, then stops, thinks, bursts, etc. iTunes transfer is slow too. But, I tried it on my powerbook, and worked perfectly and no click of death

I installed Tiger (Archive install) and it still didnt resolve any of these issues. I also tried switching Firewire ports, but did the same.

The rest appears ok-ish. No probs with USB or other. RAM is fine (768 total).

Anyway, is there anyway to know if it is a Mobo problem? I ran TechTool 4 and Drive 10 but they came out fine. I also repaired permissions, etc.

Its out of guarantee, so, can't swing it by a Mac center in Italy.

I was thinking of total re-install (zero the drive, etc), but, don't know if it can help.
