How big is your iTunes collection? Photos?

I thought it would be interesting to see how many files everyone had. If you want to go portable with an iPod you are limited by what can fit on the device. So... how much data do you have?

I'll get the party started...

iTunes: 5514 songs, 15.3 days, 24.85 GB

iPhoto: 2495 photos, 19 movies, 3.4 GB

Movies: 3.5 GB (from ~/Movies)

Once I really start organizing, archiving, and cataloging my movies I'd have better tabs on them. I don't have any DVD rips... these are all little web downloads and such.

iTunes is sitting pretty at 4040 songs, which add up to 11 days, 14 hours and 58 minutes - 21.89Gb. Most of my music is legal, what about other people? Just curious how many still buy there stuff legally - still like to have CDs so I buy a couple of CDs every week, and just rip them to iTunes.

Currently I'm using a 4Gb iPod mini, but hopefully upgrading to a 30Gb or 40Gb 5th gen in the summer so I can have all of my music with me.

Having only had a digital camera for a year, iPhoto is a bit lame, at a mere 592Mb for 546 photos. Don't keep any movie files after I have watched them - I only have a 30Gb drive in my iBook, so I don't have the space for keeping files after watching them. Darn I need a new computer with a bigger drive, 21Gb of music on a 30Gb (27Gb formatted) drive is a bit tight! \

    Hey....

My music library is now standing at:

17715 songs 53.3 days, 81.15GB, sitting on an external hard drive. I buy a lot of CDs, and a lot of that music is stuff I owned at one point or another, but then lost, sold, gave away or just plain broke. Since I've moved country three times in four years, it's just easier for me to take stuff in digital format. That collection represents about seven years of music collecting in digital format. Some of the music I've owned before is just gone now.

my iPod Photo is 3395 songs, 10 days, 15.86. (I have a 30GB iPod, but my iTunes was giving trouble this week after I upgraded to 10.4.1 wiping out the library file and wiping my iPod... so I've been adding stuff as I go along.)

    Photos: 675 photos 2Gbs.

Not much into watching movies on my laptop, that's the truth. I have about 50 DVDs though.

I wasn't explicit, but pr0n doesn't count. That should almost be a fourth category.

believe it or not, it's not porn. ...mostly foreign movies, tv shows I've missed, and anime.... none of which I keep after viewing. It's just unfortunate that I can download faster than I can watch.

    My collection is:

    iTunes: 4,040 songs, 12.4 days, 19.95 GB

       Free Songs - 79

iTMS - 531 total songs, 298 individual, 233 from buying albums

       Remaining - purchased CDs

    iPhoto: 1.090 pictures, 995.4 MB

My 20 GB iPod is not able to hold my entire music collection anymore, so I have to deselect songs I do not care about listening to so I will have songs I want to hear. I pretty much listen to one playlist with the iPod in shuffle (songs) mode. The playlist is my entire iTunes library minus non-music (audiobooks, iTrip stations, etc.).

I've spend almost 5 years ripping my entire CD collection. I started out at 192-320kbps MP3, but have begun (slowly but steadily) re-ripping most of my classical collection in Apple Lossless. About 40-45% of my collection is classical music, the rest is a wide blend of rock, pop, jazz, blues, electronic etc. and also a lot of film scores/soundtracks (some of which might also be classified as "classical", thus the total% of "classical" is above 50%). But even though my main focus is on classical music, I've still got a pretty decent collection of rock and other genre.

    This project will never end...

Wow, you guys amaze me! I can't imagine having nearly as many songs. So, here is my modest collection. 1837 songs, or 8.76 GB. Of course because I don't have much hard drive space and only have a 10GB iPod, I have to be selective about what songs I upload. I'm hoping to upgrade both my computer and iPod in the future so maybe then I can put as much as I want.

I've got a 20" Cinema Display (running 1680 x 1050). Anyhow, the large album art window is mostly due to my playlists being quite lenghty (wide). I have a "smart" playlist for each classical composer, listing both name and year of birth/death.

Here is a link to a full size image (167KB) of my iTunes window (You can see the "composer playlists")

iTunes: 2844 songs (most of it legally purchased). which is 8.4 days at 12.69 GB

iPhoto: 8092 photos (all my own... my god ) which is 7.8 GB

To be fair, thats 7973 photos and 119 movie-clips (from the digital camera)

I find it funny to look at the amount of photos takes, year-over-year:

2001: 43 (from christmas eve till newyears )

    2002: 1493

    2003: 2688

    2004: 1934

    2005: 1934

continuing the trend this year, 2005 will yield 3868 photos... geez

All on my iPod Photo (60 GB) of course

Heck, I only have an original 5 GB iPod to cram my 62 GB into.

Fine, you made me do it.

    Here goes.

iTunes: 8623 songs, 26.7 days, 32.28 GB (all legal, mostly ripped from my CDs)

    iPhoto: 5496 photos, 9.6 GB

    (by year)

    1999: 239

    2000: 249

    2001: 185

    2002: 260

2003: 1629 (the year my son was born...)

    2004: 1713

    2005: 1249 (so far...)

I've got 10~15 hours of video, but the good stuff has mostly been burned to DVD. All of the source material is still on Digital8, so none of it on on my Mac right now.

I have a 20" Cinema Display too, but I never run iTunes fullscreen. I have the window sized "just right" to have some room for playlists and room for all the columns I care about in the song list area. I'll post a screenshot later if you're interested.

Only recently did I start making lots of playlists out of albums. And now I have tons of playlists, smart and normal. I remember when I started getting a scrollbar in the playlist window and how much that annoyed me. In fact it still annoys me in some ways. Can't wait til there are playlist groups so all my playlists won't take up so much space.

Yeah, do I second that or what! All of the albums I have are playlists so you can imagine how slow it is to scroll.

Playlist groups was actually a feature of SoundJam which...as most people know became iTunes. When I was working for Apple when they just bought out SoundJam I wrote up an Enhacement Request for playlist groups and the developer wrote back saying it is slated for a later version....five years later we might just see that feature!

Scroll... think about connecting as a shared server! I have over 100 playlists and when I connect to the machine with iTunes it takes forever to load the playlists and library contents. Granted, it may be due to the library size and not the number of playlists.
