RAM for slot-loading imac

hello there, I have a friend who will be selling me his old imac for 50 bucks (still in mint condition though)... Here are some specs on it (that would be useful):

slot loading

350 mhz G3

Ram type PC100 (128mb)

30gb HD

The amount of ram in the computer is a measly 128mb, and I want to bump it up to at least 256mb to allow Tiger to run on it. My question is, do I have to buy PC100 ram? Or would a PC133 ram that is backwards compatible with PC100 work? Also will any brand work?

I tried sticking my friends 512mb PC133 ram into the imac and it would not start up, just made a beep sound instead of the usual C-cord...

So sad

a lot of third-party ram is PC100/133, so it'll work for either speed. you can usually find cheap ram at places like best buy and circuit city if you don't want to go online. it should all work just fine

    hmm... I just remembered... DOH!

My copy of Tiger is on DVD and the slot loading imac is only cd-rom!

Can I use an external dvd reader (usb) on it?
