Does anybody know how the graphics cards in the new (Rev. C) machines compare with the graphics cards in the outgoing machines (Rev. - in particular, how the 9600 compares with the 5200?

The nVidia 5200 supports Quartz 2-D Extreme, so it's ready for Tiger.
With Tiger, once the card can support Quartz 2-D Extreme, it's the amount of video memory on the card, rather than the speed, which is more important.
Q2-DE needs a 9600 ATI, or an nVidia 5200 go or better.
Comments
I'm guessing MAC is similar although quantitatively maybe different because of different drivers.
