Blocking "Unsavory" Content in Safari / Firefox

I hope you can help.
I need to block out certain web content, using a "Ratings Service" (ala IE) in either Safari or Firefox and wondered (a) if it is possible and (b) what I need in order to do it.
I am trying to help in preventing a number of tutors accessing adult content etc. at an education facility
