"Mactel" not sexy enough... suggestions?
In reading some of the posts about the new arrangement, "Mactel" doesn't seem to cut the mustard-- it's bit clunky. I find "Appletel" a bit better, but it's forced, too.
Since Wintel is a mix of "Windows" and "Intel," I propose Xtel for "OS X" and "Intel"-- or at least beg for something that sounds a bit better than if McDonalds merged with BellSouth or something...
As my first forum offering, I felt is was important enough to post, so here it is. The last thing I want is for some terrible label to take hold before we've had our say about it.
Thinking caps everyone...

The best I've seen yet.
I don't see why the names will change with the move to Intel.

The operating system Apple uses is officially "Mac OS X." Therefore, to use the beginning three letters of the OS' name, as "Wintel" uses, the proper name to use *should* be "Mactel."
However, we Mac users are more sophisticated than that. I happen to like the coincidence that both Macintosh and Intel use "int" in their names. Hence, my suggestion is "Macintel," as others have used around here too.

I vote just plain ol' Macintosh again. At least after the transition's over, there won't be as much need to stipulate which chip...

Why do you use a hard return and then put an extra space
between each of the lines you type here? The box and server
will automatically wrap the text for you so that there is no longer a need for you to hit return or add an extra line, yo.
NO QUESTION ABOUT IT...
