Not a lot of views, but here goes:

I've tried Data Rescue X. The first time around it showed two volumes: one was my HD and the other consisted of Orphans. I started with the HD, but when I went back for the Orphans (which I now believe I should have done 1st, I'm such a retard) there is only one volume---I can't even see Orphans.

    WTF? Help, please....

If this is a corrupted disk, the best chance for cure is DiskWarrior. Have you tried Disk Utility's First Aid feature? You have to boot from the CD to use it. Just look at the menus after the CD boots.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's not the disk. I think it's actually the bookmarks.plist that's corrupted.

    Check this:

Not only do I have no bookmarks I cannot make new bookmarks. (camino crashes)

    I have no history folder.

The Rendezvous folder (which I've never used) now works as my history folder, functioning correctly, and *I haven't lost any of my history from the last 9 days!*

I've made copies of the plist but when I open it in textedit I see nothing of interest, just

    Where is my history kept?

Is there any other way to check and see if my old bookmarks are in a corrupted file somewhere?

    Thanks,
