MSN Messenger opens Mail not Hotmail?

If I have unread mail (as viewed from Messenger) it opens Hotmail in FireFox, if I have no mail it opens the setup for iMail (or whatever its called)? Is this a new thing or have I just not noticed before? Anyhow... can I stop it from doing this?
