That certainly ranks up as one of the stupidest things I've heard lately.
The app is already working great as a Cocoa app (based on the Quake 3 engine). For them to turn it into a Carbon app they'df have to start from scratch and re-write nearly the whole program.
Where'd you get your info? Does anyone specifically say it'll be Carbon?

Take a look at Westlake Interactive - they're doing the port, and the game will be released for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X.
I started the MacAddict Wolfenstein Division and have roughly thirty members and we practice on the beach map. Its quite a good map, but we have played it so many times and attendance has been dropping off. It peaked at twenty-one one Saturday, now only 4-6 come to practice
It now will only get worse and having this two month "limbo" will not help out my game division.
If any of you are interested you can come play some Wolfenstein with other macheads at 8PM EST on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday provided other people come
Don't get so whipped up into a petition fury so quickly.
Before you go insisting that people sign this online petition, I suggest that you lay out the facts first. I would like to see some links to where Aspyr says that RtCW will be a carbon app. Couldn't they do what id did with Quake 3 and make two separate apps, one for 9 and one for X?
If it is carbon, I want some proof that a carbon application will not run as well as a cocoa application. Huh? There is none? Just conjecture are hearsay amongst non-programmer types?
Great demo! I love the beach map but it runs on my computer like Quake 3 on a 56k modem! I have a tibook 400mhz 382 mb of ram airport connection. whats going on? is it the connection, the rage pro graphics card, or wat? why does my computer kill at quake and play like an lc 2 running os x in wolfinstien?

The Last report on planetquake, was that Greame Devine did the last optimizing of the app and that it would be out before christmas. quote:
"Mac is still "soon" (i.e., before Christmas) and the Linux binary release is
"sooner". So don't harass Timo and Graeme too much - they're working hard."
Hmmmmmmmm.....

Second, the persons involved doing this carbon port did the ST:EF which was a poor carbon port, so I heard.
With carbon vs. cocoa aside, this was the only thing I wanted for Christmas, because of carbon I must wait two more months.
One more thing, Omni did the cocoa version of Quake III. (http://www.omnigroup.com/games/quake3/)
I strongly believe that the app will use the cocoa api on osx as the MP part was 95 % finished resently.
I think ID is doing the cocoa port and westlake is doing the os 9 version.
I have to agree with a holck, though.
