MPGs no longer have sound & dont play properly. Help, anyone?

Hey all,

ive discovered that i cant get my computer to playback .mpg files any more. These files definetly used to play perfectly. Now they have no sound and they all pause after about 8seconds. Ive tried three different media players with no luck (QuickTime, Real Player and Windows Media Player).



But it seems that .mov files still play fine.

Why's this happened and how do i solve it? Can i convert them to .mov files?

    VLC. Google it.

    MPlayer OSX will play MPEG-1 files (and hundreds more). If that works, then you've probably messed up the settings in Quicktime somehow. If MPlayer doesn't work, then you've got more serious problems.

    I had this problem and it fixed itself. Try rebooting and repairing permissions.

    aren't they just the best problems? The ones that solve themselves



    i haven't repair permissions or restarted, i'll try it later
