Is the apple cert for OSX valuable in the real world? I am an IT major picking up all the certs I can along the way (CompTIA, next year maybe Cisco, still undecided on MS certs, a lot of people tell me that they are acctualy frowned on now-a-days) I have been considering the Apple osx cert training kit, but the seems steep, is it usefull? would it be a waste? is the cert any good?

They have practice tests for server and client on the web here and I just took the client and got 8 out of 11. Havent tried the server test yet...any guidence is appreciated

Unless you plan on exclusively servicing Apple's hardware or software, these certifications have no "real world" value. The courseware is very informative, however, and could be useful to you in a general knowledge sense.

Based on the broad scope of your major, I would recommend picking up a general Mac OS X reference book (anything by Bob LeVitus or David Pogue will do)...
