Thinking about a new TV for the bedroom...maybe a 23 or 26" LCD one that could double as a display for a laptop.
Costco is carrying a 26/27" Viewsonic for $899 that gets good reviews. Not sure of the technical specs but I've seen it in the store several times.

Smaller pixels (ie. higher resolutions) aren't as bright as larger pixels. I'm sure you'd be looking at about a max of 1280x720 in the size you're looking for.
