Playing AVIs

Hi there,

I am trying to play AVI files, webcam video taken with the Logitech Quickcam 4000 on a Windows PC.

However, it seems that QuickTime is not equipped with the correct codec. I also downloaded Windows Media Player - this also was unable to play the AVI.

I proceeded to download the Logitech QuickCam software for OS X in the hope that it would install the correct codec. However, it seems only to provide audio to QuickTime, and Windows Media Player continues to complain that it cannot support the compression.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Regards,

Nius.

I just now tried. Unfortunately, neither worked.

For VLC, I receive the following error message:

"main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `IV50'.

VLC probably does not support this sound or video format."

I am not sure what this is referring to.

Thanks for responding anyway. I appreciate it.

It stands for Indeo Video or something like that.

I get that "IV50" error all the time too! I have a Quicktime plug-in in OS 9 that lets me play them so I can convert them to another format. Takes hella-long on a 333Mhz Beige G3 though. Someone needs to port it to OS X!

EDIT: There you go! I would also check if your PC could convert the video of save in another format.
