setting up raid in mac os 10.4

does anyone know what happens if I decide to set up lets say a 4 or 5 drive raid 0 coniguration and have mac os 10.4 do the stripping? If I end up blowing away the OS or going to 10.5 when it comes out how can I make sure i dont loose any of my data? Can I just redo the raid 0 configuration at that time as long as the drives are int eh same order?

Reason I ask is I was thinking of getting the lacie s2s and just using it as JBOD but taht means using 10.4 to do the stripping.
