old apple II game

Does anyone remember the game (which I could have sworn was called) Discover the World for the Apple II? You started off as an explorer for Portugal, Spain, France, England, and maybe one of a few other countries. You determined what supplies to take with you and went out sailing and exploring the world. It had, for the time, decent graphics. You started out with a map of the known coast of Europe and as more coastlines were discovered they were added to your map. One of the most common things to do was to "map coast" around Africa or South America giving you the whole layout on your map as well as simply navigating you around those continents. Eventually if you brought back enough riches and established enough ports elsewhere you were promoted and could start assaulting the ports of other countries.

Does ANYONE remember what the hell this was called and where I can find it?

Vertual Apple has a good list of Apple II games. I don't recall the game you are looking for. The two I spent way to much time on were Wiradry ( the whole series ) and Three Mile Island. Virtual Apple has an emulator so you can play it right from their site.

    "uses ActiveX"

I wish that was it but unfortunately no. Seems like that game only lets you play starting out in Spain and is too focused on the New World. Thanks for trying NUM though.

    OR

"New World" (also for the IIe)

"A hi res adventure for 1-3 players. A player

represents the monarch of either Spain, France, or England.

The new world is divided into 13 colonies. Your job is to

purchase colonies, soldiers, ships and conduct naval

maneuvers and launch expeditions to one of the 13 colonies.

Once there you search for gold. All commands are entered

from a menu, making it highly appropriate for youngsters."

I found discover the world II on the Free Info Society. A quick google search brings it up. Its clearly for windows.

The company that makes it is called "Entrex Software" which has since gone out of business after being bought out by scholastic and etc. etc.

Hopefully that will help you find the original Apple IIe version. The windows version is fun, but i fondly remember the apple IIe version myself

Keeping this posting alive.. I do recall the game you're referring to. It was called, "Discover the World" and I remember playing it on the Apple IIe in elementary school. I remember some details of the game, like navigating the map, deciding what to do when you sailed into a storm, stopping to trade with other countries, etc. Every now and then I search for it to see if anyone has posted a disk image somewhere. Someone has it!

So, old dead thread, BUT I FOUND IT!!!!....   :D
well Archive.org found it, and i found it on there!  played happily for several hours.  (note on the first one says b side doesn't work so i used the b side in the second link and seemed to work well on sweet16 iigs emulator. rom3 don't know if it makes a difference though)
Cheers and avoid those nasty pirates
