Which to get 17" or 20" iMac

after reading good reports on Apples Discussion boards I've decided to get another iMac G5 - my third one so far.

I've been plagued by noisy fans, even after modding my last one it was still annoying.

Anyway acouple of chaps have said their REV C iMacs are really quiet - AT LAST!.

Is it worth paying extra for the 20" ?

All you get is a bigger screen and a bigger drive, but what about the GFX card?

Is the ATI Radeon X600 Pro vastly inferior to the Radeon X600 XT ???

    the 17" screen is inferior to the 20" screen, or at least, always has been. the 20" is worth the premium imo.

    Do you really need a 20" screen to surf the internet at home?

    The 17" model is everything you will ever need!

    Just wack some extra RAM inside and its got the lot dave!!!!!

    I would go for the 17" model only if the budget was tight. The 20" model is going to be more comfortable, plus it has a better display. It is better even compared to any Cinema Display (only response time is not known).

    The X600 chips are essentially Radeon 9600 adjusted to PCIe. So:

    Radeon 9600 --> X600

    Radeon 9600 Pro --> X600 Pro

    Radeon 9600 XT --> X600 XT

    I have no at hand extensive tests, but this one can give you an idea.

    Get the 20". You'll regret it forever if you don't.
