My new powerbook issues. :P

Just got my new 17" Powerbook. Now, we've all heard the great points - Brighter screen, faster hard drive, great resolution, etc etc. SO without further ado:

Issue #1:

Poor vertical viewing angles. If you tip the display back and forth, the brightness shifts noticeably.

Here, I made a gif of the brightness shift while being tilted for visual aid. White is the brightest part of the screen.

Issue #2:

The very lower left and right corners of the display are dim in comparison to the rest of the display. Also seen in the above gif.

Issue #3:

The screen release button on the front of the powerbook is very very difficult to press in.

----------

That's all for now.

Everything else is great!

    Update:

Also has 3 f*ed up pixels. Two are side-by-side, solid blue pixels.

    One is solid red.

My 15" 1.67GHz rev. D (I guess we're on rev. E now?) suffers from the exact same problems, apart from the failed pixels.

LCDs are never that good with viewing angles, especially vertical ones.

    How does the lid close?

    Does it close evenly?

Also, so the keyboard keys still touch the display?

I am getting the same PB in a few days.

First thing I noticed on the floor model and I was very surprised. Thought maybe it was a dud, but I guess not. What is more disappointing was that I only checked it out to see the better display. :P

I thought the viewing angle on the previous ones was much better.

I should be getting my 17 next week, I think possibly the viewing angle dimming is the same, its just that the brighter screen makes in much more noticible

I just got my 17" this morning and I am experiencing the same thing.

I came on here specifically to see if anyone else had reported the problem.

Kind of disappointing considering the price of this machine.

I definitely did not experience this when I was looking at my friends previous-model 17"

There pretty much isn't any perfect viewing angle . . .
