SoundCheck: hows it work?

hey all,

i've just ticked the soundcheck box and it is currently Analyzing 2334 of my 8042 songs. What exactly is it doing and why is it only doing it to that many?

Also, if i untick the box, what will happen? Do they go back to however they start?

Basically i'd like to know more about it.

If you can help out, let me know.

thanks

sound check basically makes sure that the songs all have the same volume. That is, when your listening to your music on your ipod at a certain volume, that another song doesn't come up and blast your ears if you or someone else didn't import it at the same decibel. And visa versa where one song is at a sound level you are comfortable with and another too quiet (without adjusting the volume level on your ipod).

If you uncheck the volume check feature, the songs that have already been equalized will stay that way and songs that have not will stay in their unchecked state.
